Waiting

Last night Kattie went to the hospital to have her baby. As I waited through out the night I remember waiting for my own children to arrive. I often wondered if they were getting last minute instructions from a special friend or relative before they made their grand entrance. I hope my Mom and Dad told Asher what a wonderful family he is being born into. I somehow think he already knows it. We are certainly not without our trials, faults and quirky personalities but we are still a wonderful family.

I should have known that Kattie would take forever to have this baby. She is not exactly known for her on time ability. I remember a time when she was coming to visit us. She called to say she would be leaving within the hour, she arrived about three days later, this is for a six hour drive.

Last night Rich and Kattie took us to their favorite restraunt. It is called Nattiyas. It is real authentic Thai food. We were planning on having leftovers but it did not work out that way. If you are ever in north San Diego you absolutely must try this place http://www.nattiyas.com/

Anyway back to now. It is 11 a.m. and we are still waiting.
I was wonderful watching Tawnya this morning. As we went to the hospital I was fully aware of Tawnya's training and years of experience with baby doctors and delivering babies. I expected to see some of the professional attributes kick in. What I saw kick in was 100% MAMA. No nurse on the face of this planet could have kept Tawn from going into the labor/delivery room. I witnessed the Mother taking care of the Mother. It is an absolute miricle to watch such strength and tenderness at the same time. I don't know why that makes such and impression on me I have watched it all my life in both my Mother and my Mother-in-law.
Well even though Ash has not come out to see us yet there is a party going on in room 310 and I'm going back in.
